Reese was a newsman's newsman... 24/7, always on the prowl, keeping a watch over
the world... He was perfect to launch CNN... I was fortunate to have been hired by Reese
in December, 1979, among the first dozen journalists to be hired six months before we went on the air on June lst, 1980. It was an exciting time. When the American Embassy hostages where released in January, 81, after being held captive in Iran, Reese sent me to Frankfurt, Germany to cover the hostages arriving for treatment at the Army airbase. The world press was there...and it was one of
CNN's first live Foreign broadcasts... Reese gave you freedom to think and write.. to bear witness to world events firsthand. It was always up hill.. Reese's spirit and enthusiasm drove the network...
"No means can't and I will" was our motto...You were a great journalist Reese.. and friend...

I was beginning my career in film when Reese convinced me to produce "Food and Fitness with Bart and Nadia" - a mere 65 episodes in 6 days including a fitness spinoff. I went back to film after that, but that experience made me a producer. This was a man who thought outside the box; a man of vision and ideas whose excitement and never say "it can't be done" attitude, continues to inspire me. My love and condolences to the whole family. He will be much missed.
