He was a master percussionist and flutist .I was amazed by his mastering of his native merengue tamboura. Just so much talent in one person. He lit up the stage and made everyone want to get up and dance once the music began. Watching him and so many great entertainers and musicians in Zaire was phenomenal. I’m so glad I grew up with the Fania Allstars music. And I know Johnny Pacheco is entertaining right now with Celia Cruz and Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez.

Goodbye to an old friend. My husband and I were good friends of Johnny and Carmen Pacheco. I took Carmen to the hospital when she gave birth to Joanne. I was the one to call Johnny ( he was on tour) to tell him “otra chancleta”. Your baby is another girl
Johnny was a wonderful friend and over the years I was able to see him once in a while and we reminisced about his years with Charlie and Tito. We were with him when he started Pacheco y su charanga.
I will never forget his love and warmth to us. He will live in my heart forever.
My deepest condolences to his family
