Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Ferlin,of Cochranton, PA, was born May 16, 1924 in Dimock, PA, in Susquehanna County, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She was the daughter of Douglas A. Mills and Etheldred G. (Taylor) Mills. She married Frank G. Ferlin on July 10, 1944. She graduated from Tunkhannock High School, Wyoming County, in 1942 and graduated from the Western Union Telegraph Company School in Washington, NJ. She began work at the Western Union Office in Meadville, PA, and next worked for the U.S. Navy at Quonset Point, RI, in the communications department. She retired in 1984 after 21 years of service with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture in Meadville, PA. A life time member of the Meadville Order of the Eastern Star, she enjoyed attending Red Hat events in Florida, gardening, her children and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was well known in Lanark Village as "the Cookie Lady." She is survived by her husband, her sister, June Mills of Beverly Hills, FL; three children, Douglas Ferlin and his wife, Diana, of Manassas, VA, Karen Ensworth, formerly of Saegertown, PA, and Linda Leonard of Cochranton, PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Darla, Denise, Kyle, John, Lori, and Rod; and eight grand children. A memorial service will be held at the Community Church in Lanark Village at 121:00 A.M. on Sat. Feb. 2, 2008.
