Obituary

George Valkuchak, Sr., 86, died at his home under the loving care of his family on Nov. 28, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attained the rank of Sergeant MP and was honorably discharged in April 12, 1946 at Fort Sheridan, IL.
He is survived by his loving companion, Ida Blum; his sons and their wives, George, Jr. and Donna; David and Suzi; Paul and Mary Kay; Philip and Cheri; and his daughter and her husband, Suzanne and Dennis Easterday. In addition, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and 7.5 great grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 3, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Jackson, MI. Father Riley officiated with interment at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in his name for St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Great Lakes Hospice Program.
